Apparently, a guy called Navalny has died in a Russian prison. He might have choked on a Chicken McNugget while fooling about on his Playstation, for all we know.
Meanwhile, at the time of writing, attacks on Gaza have killed at least 28,775 Palestinians and wounded 68,552 since October 7 2023.
What with all this Eurocentric media furore, we might very well have been comparing a tragedy with a statistic.
After all, if the same amount of outrage and concern had been expressed about each of those Palestinian lives, that conflict would be long since over.
The fact is that none of the deaths actually matter, not even The Russian’s.
It’s just that Navalny’s can be leveraged against someone the West has a beef with.
Nobody on this side of the world wants a bust-up with Israel and the US.
I mean, The Ukraine had a guy called Gonzalo Lira iced in prison a month ago, having been there for the heinous crime of criticising Zelensky’s war. You’d probably never heard of him until yesterday.
That’s because nobody wants a bust-up with a guy who has a beef with the guy the West has a beef with.
Not even if he is a dubious character of the highest order – that fact alone will see his gang fast-tracked into the EUSSR.
Human lives are fodder for bullies, which means curtains for the have-nots.
When has it ever been any different?
