Non-Sense

Fridge freezers bunged into hedges, black bags of household water discarded at the side of the road? We’ve doubtless all seen it.

Fly tipping harms the environment, poses health risks, and can be costly for local authorities and landowners to clean up. Authorities often use surveillance cameras and heavy fines in order to deter offenders.

No problem with that gig.

However, if you allow local authorities an inch, they’ll take a country mile.

Remember when they hitched onto anti-terror RIPA laws to target council tax avoiders?

They’re now swooping down on people who leave charity shop donations in the street. This week I saw a sign on the doors of a Sense outlet that threatened flytopping fines for hapless donors

Yes, well intentioned citizens are now being kiboshed with £400 tickets for voluntarily parting with their handovers.

Well, the booze and fags for the boat migrants won’t buy itself, will it? Given the 5% ceiling on annual council tax rises, local enforcement teams have gone route one, dialling up the bastardy to buttress the arsefucked adult social care budget.

I hope that hearing-impaired folk are on the receiving end of a helty slice of Sense wonga because the charity is indisputably the standard-bearer of tone-deafness.

You couldn’t make it up.

But it seems they can.

They criminalise generous donations by creating the technical requirement that leaving something on a street must be a properly licensed act.

Any local authority with a sense of civic duty and righteousness would  ensure that charities were obligated to ring up a secure repository for collections before they were licensed to trade.

Much easier to rob Joe Public, though.

According to Sense blurb they ‘offer personalised, creative and flexible support at every stage of life’.

They’re certainly being creative with their leveraging of the fly tipping regulations.

Presumably, that blurb translates into some grunt getting on the blower to the chief local authority brownshirt (pronouns: he/Himmler) and royally screwing over the very people who are funding them.

No sense. No sense at all.
