It’s been quite a week for air incidents. 241 people died in an Air India crash with just one escaping with their life.

There would have been more survivors if not so many passengers had been hanging off the outside of the giant metal bird when it careered into a nearby slum.

There were warnings though – some chap had made an unsolicited call to air traffic control to advise that he had detected a problem with their router, but nobody took him seriously.

Almost immediately afterwards, Israel undertook a fresh peace mission to Iran and dropped a few thousand bombs on various military bases, Revolutionary Guard leaders, and residential homes.

The Israelis are jubilant because they understand that the Iranian regime represents an existential threat to their state. Their bile almost always gets expressed via bombing. They love it.

If only they did so through interpretative dance.

Shocking, though, that they seem to have momentarily neglected Gaza, but dear old Greta Mongberg helpfully served as a welcome distraction during her recent vanity gig, which allowed them to divert their fun and games elsewhere.

In some ways, you can’t blame the Iranians for wanting the bomb. Gaddafi gave up his weapons programme and ended up being buttpoked in a ditch.

As for the Israelis, all this carnage is fuelled by an unshakable determination to avoid any repeat of the Holocaust.

We can therefore blame Germany for all this mayhem – and by extension the EU? Well, probably not, but it is always worth a punt.

It is however indisputable that Israel is the most heavily externally bankrolled project in the history of the world, mainly by the US.

How else could a country with a population one-seventh that of the UK and a GDP of $514m afford to keep prosecuting these wars?

That’s 5% of the UK’s, which is particularly bonkers when you consider that we are upping our GDP defence spend from 2 to 3.5%. That will be to bolster NATO, without setting off any fireworks.

For all rumbling about peace talks, this Middle East business will die down only when one side gets annihilated.

And that won’t be Israel.
